How to Save Money on Small Van Insurance

With budgets being increasingly tight these days, everyone’s looking for ways to save some cash. Insurance is usually the first thing to be considered – no-one likes paying for it, but if you’ve got small van insurance then there are ways that you can save money whilst still getting the right level of cover for your needs.

The first thing you’ll want to look at is your excess. Most insurers offer a certain excess as standard, but it’s nothing that a bit of negotiation won’t fix. Try raising your excess slightly to see if it has an impact on your premiums – chances are it will, and as long as you keep it realistic (i.e. don’t go so high that you wouldn’t be able to afford it should you need to make a claim) then this can be an incredibly effective way of reducing your premiums.

Then, you might want to re-think some of those added extras that you tagged on. Some of them might be incredibly useful and could save you cash in the long run, but if you’re really strapped for cash at the moment then you might be tempted to let some of them go. It’s a judgement call, but if you remove a few of them then you could well save some money on your premiums.

The most important thing you can do is compare all the options before you make your decision. If your policy is coming up for renewal then don’t just blindly go back to your original insurer – scour the market and compare all the options, because chances are you’ll be able to find something cheaper elsewhere. Remember to look for the best deal that you can and don’t be afraid to haggle, and if you do you’ll be well on your way to saving some cash whilst getting the policy that’s right for you. What could be better than that?
